Large images can slow down your website, increase page load time, and negatively affect user experience and SEO. If no scan has been performed yet, a message will appear indicating that there are no results available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"940\" height=\"710\" src=\"https:\/\/thumbpress.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/large-image.png\" alt=\"large image\" class=\"wp-image-34864\" style=\"width:876px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thumbpress.co\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/large-image.png 940w, https:\/\/thumbpress.co\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/large-image-300x227.png 300w, https:\/\/thumbpress.co\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/large-image-768x580.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To begin, you need to configure a couple of options and start the scan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tp-heading-3\">Chunk Size<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The&nbsp;<strong>Chunk Size<\/strong>&nbsp;determines how many images are processed at once.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The default chunk size has been kept at 50. You can adjust this based on your server performance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tip:<\/strong>&nbsp;We recommend keeping low chunk size values. For Detect Now: 5-10, For Detect in Background: 15-20)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tp-heading-4\">File Size Limit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This sets the threshold for detecting large images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Default value: <strong>1 MB<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can change the unit (e.g., KB, MB depending on availability)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any image larger than this value will be listed in the results<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you set your preferred <strong>Chunk Size<\/strong>, <strong>File Size Limit, <\/strong>and click one of the scan buttons, <strong>Detect Now<\/strong> or <strong>Detect in Background<\/strong>, you will see all images exceeding the defined size limit will be displayed in a list<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Convert Now<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Starts the conversion process immediately.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Runs in the current session.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Best for smaller image libraries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Convert In Background<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recommended for large media libraries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Runs the conversion process in the background.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allows you to continue working without interruption.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tp-heading-5\">Scan Results Summary<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the scan is complete, a summary report is displayed showing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Total Images<\/strong> \u2013 Number of images analyzed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Images Processed<\/strong> \u2013 Number of images scanned<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Large Image Detected<\/strong> \u2013 Total duplicate images found<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"777\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/thumbpress.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Dashboard-\u2039-thumb-doc-new-\u2014-WordPress-04-27-2026_03_26_PM.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34527\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thumbpress.co\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Dashboard-\u2039-thumb-doc-new-\u2014-WordPress-04-27-2026_03_26_PM.png 777w, https:\/\/thumbpress.co\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Dashboard-\u2039-thumb-doc-new-\u2014-WordPress-04-27-2026_03_26_PM-300x278.png 300w, https:\/\/thumbpress.co\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Dashboard-\u2039-thumb-doc-new-\u2014-WordPress-04-27-2026_03_26_PM-768x712.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 777px) 100vw, 777px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Click the <strong>Show Results<\/strong> button to view detailed, large image records. Each entry includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>File Name<\/strong> \u2013 Name of the original image<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Image <\/strong>\u2013 A preview or reference of the image for quick recognition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>File Size<\/strong> \u2013 Shows the current size of the image (e.g., KB or MB). It lets you optimize large images using a set compression percentage. Just set the optimization level and click the &#8216;<strong>Optimize<\/strong>&#8216; button.
